“When Leadership is a Matter of Life or Death”

Col Lawrence E Killmeier Jr. (known to his friends as Chip) currently serves as the Commanding Officer Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Camp Pendleton. He enlisted in the Marine Platoon Leaders Course in 1983, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon graduation in 1986.  A Marine pilot who earned his wings as a Naval Aviator in 1988, his decorations include Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Strike/Flight numeral 11,  the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V,” the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

Col Killmeier has spent much of his military career in the role of service and leadership where the stakes are extraordinarily high. His combat experience spans from the 1991 Gulf War, multiple tours in Iraq 2005-2007 and his recent return from Afghanistan in March 2012.  He is a graduate of the US Army War College where he earned a Masters in National Strategic Studies.

Today MCAS Camp Pendleton, with Col Killmeier in command, maintains air station facilities and property, provides security and other services, and operates the airfield in support of I MEF and other forces training/preparing for combat in order to deter, prevent, and defeat threats and aggression aimed at the United States.

The Center for Wealth & Legacy™ is a project of United Charitable Programs – a registered 501(c)(3) public charity.

All money raised by The Center is received by United Charitable Programs and becomes the sole property of UCP, which, for internal operating purposes, allocates the funds to the Project (The Center for Wealth & Legacy). The Program Manager makes recommendations for disbursements which are reviewed by UCP for approval.
